Life Journal

Welcome to the opportunity of a lifetime: to sit at the feet of Jesus and spend some one-on-one time with him. That’s what Life Journals are about. And I want to encourage you to invest in this eternal relationship.

Using your Life Journal is about more than reading your Bible, though that’s an important part of this. It’s about more than writing down some thoughts, though that’s also a part of this. This is an opportunity for you to hear what God wants to say to you, right at that moment in your life. It’s a way that God uses the Holy Spirit to mentor you in your life journey.

Using your Life Journal is an important way you build your relationship with God. Like any relationship, you and I have to work at this regularly. I strongly recommend finding daily time to do this. It needs to become a habit, and typically it takes 21 days to develop a habit. So, don’t try this a couple of days and then give up. Make a commitment, for the sake of your relationship with Christ, to do this for a month. If you do that, I know God will use this time to bless and encourage you. And at the end of that first month, you won’t want to stop.

Still need a little more encouragement? Then check out our Gateway – Life Journal Blog. There you will find examples of real life journal entries, online resource tools along with frequently asked questions (FAQ) about journaling.

I use my Life Journal daily, and it has become a great blessing to me. I know that if you work at this, you will discover the joy and comfort you get as you sit at the feet of Jesus daily. His Spirit will mentor you and guide you to experience God’s best!

How do I get a Life Journal? Journals, NLT Bibles and copies of The Divine Mentor by Wayne Cordeiro are available for purchase at the ministry booth following each service.

What do I need to get started? Bible, pen or pencil, and a Life Journal (available to purchase at Gateway for $7, or online at no charge).  The reading plan, broken down by months/days, is described nicely in the first couple of pages of the Life Journal. Simply find today's date and start reading!

When should I journal? It is a good idea to set aside a certain time in your schedule each day and find a quiet place where you won't be distracted.

Its not important when you do your devotions, but that you make it a very important part of your day. For morning people, it's a great way to start your day. For others, it's 20-minute lunchtime appointments with Jesus. For the night owls, it's the final act of the day- the time to quiet their hearts and hear God's voice.

If this seems a little overwhelming, take it slow and keep it simple. No matter how you decide to do your devotions, the important thing is to show up for your daily appointment, because God is always waiting for you!
